Insurance renewal can be a stressful time of year for allparties involved. With all of the different variables that can affect the renewal, the process can often be an arduous and time-consuming task.Early preparation is key. Ideally, start the process at least three months in advance of your expiration to ensure a smoother renewal. Discussions with underwriting, loss control and marketing representatives allow us, as brokers, to proactively prepare our clients for what they should expect-whether negative or positive. We also encourage carrier meetings early in the process so they can gain a thorough understanding of and offer insight to our clients' businesses.One of the more daunting tasks for an insured during the renewal can be completing applications. The ironic thing is this is advantageous to the insured because it ensures that we have captured all exposures, and it can also provide us, as the advisor, with another opportunity to seek ways to enhance coverage.
