The total dollar value of new construction starts in New Jersey was 7.6% below a year ago in November, according to Dodge Data & Analytics. While the state's non-residential market increased 3.9% for the year, residential construction fell 13%. The non-building sector also declined, dropping 16%.The price for aluminum sheet rose 2.7% in January, following a 1.1% decrease in December,according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics' producer price index. The result left the index 10.7% above January 2016's level. ENR's 20-city average price for aluminum sheet increased 1.0% in March, bringing the average price 4.6% above March 2017's level. ENR's 20-city average price for reinforcing bars rose 0.3% this month, with prices at 10.2% above a year ago. ENR's monthly prices for hot-rolled carbon-steel plate increased 0.9%, while yearly prices are up 0.7%. The average for standard structural shapes experienced a 1.0% increase from February's prices.
