MTS Acquires Tartarstan TV Operator

MTS, the largest mobile operator in Russia by subscribers, an-nnounced the completion of its 100% acquisition of the largest pay-TV nprovider in Tartarstan, Teleradiokomania TVT, for US$162.9mn. The acquisition is the latest in a series by MTS, and the other leading nmobile operators in Russia, as competition to become the leading nintegrated telecoms provider intensifies. BMI considers the acqui-nsition beneficial to MTS’ development by increasing its presence nin pay-TV outside of the Moscow region, where we expect growth nrates to be higher in the medium term.
