Spectrum Reserved For New Entrants

Slovakia’s Telecommunications Office has stated that it may seek to nreserve spectrum for companies with no local presence, opening the nway for a new entrant to the market. The regulator is looking to boost ncompetition in the market. BMI believes that the small size of the nSlovakian market, in which three large internationally backed opera-ntors are present, means a fourth operator is not necessary to promote ncompetition. Further, we caution that the regulator may find it difficult nto attract a new entrant willing to invest significantly in infrastructure.
