Ozon.ru, the Russian online retailer, has secured US$100mn financingnfrom a consortium led by RU-Net, a major Russian fund. Theninvestors include Index Ventures, Alpha Associates and Japenesene-retailer Rakuten. The financing is the largest ever in Russian ecommerce,nsurpassing the US$55mn of funding in April 2010 fornprivate shopping club KupiVip.ru. BMI believes the increasedndemand for Russian e-commerce and internet firms has been drivennby the strong operational and financial performance of market leadersnsuch as mail.ru Group, the Russian social networking site andnonline gaming platform (and investor in Facebook).
