A scheme is presented which uses a finite impulse response digital filter (FIRDF) to repress narrowband shortwave interference for increased utilisation of the upstream bandwidth of hybrid fibre coax. A precoding scheme is described to eliminate intersymbol interference caused by the FIRDF.
