Since independence India has made significant achievement in developing power sector. But as a country we are facing major challenges in providing electricity access to all the household and also improving reliability and quality in power supply. The most important input could be the infrastructure development in which power is the most important and critical sector. It is in this context that reforms in power sector assume importance.
