After graduating from college in 1976 with my brand-new bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, went to work for a small southern California company that produced telephone-usage-monitoring equipment. My responsibilities included those of junior engineer, technician, purchasing agent, anc assemblyman. (The company was really small.) Our first product connected to phone lines in large corporate phone systems anc recorded the number of calls placed and total off-hook time. Thii monitoring allowed the accounting department to compare phone bills with actual usage and to catch any overcharges or abuse ol phone usage.
