Distribution Networks Expansion Planning under the perspective of the locational Transmission Network Use of System tariffs

This paper presents a new focus to the Distribution Network Expansion Planning by associating it with the locational Transmission Network Use of System (TNUoS) tariffs. A model is proposed in which the distribution planning solutions are linked to the minimization of the TNUoS charges. The problem is formulated as a Mixed Integer Nonlinear Programming and solved by applying the GRASP (Greedy Randomized Adaptive Search Procedure). The results of the case studies demonstrate the importance of locational economic signals for the use of the transmission network as a way to achieve planning solutions with lower costs from the systemic point of view.
