Econtent and Academic Libraries

"Divining the future of technology and econtent—and the relationships between the two—is, at best, an inexact science." That's the opening sentence of Arnold Hirshon's "A Diamond in the Rough: Divining the Future of E-Content," which appeared in the January/February 2005 EDUCAUSE Review (40:1). I recommend reading the article as an interesting commentary on various aspects of econtent as they may affect (or be affected by) academic libraries. I think Hirshon accepts some facile published claims a bit too readily and gets some things wrong, but he helped me think about library-econtent relationships in some new ways. It may encourage some new thinking on your part as well.
