After years of exorbitant telephone prices, Mexico's beleaguered consumers are finally getting a reprieve. Local fixed-line calls now cost a flat 1.5 pesos ($0.12) if billed individually, regardless of duration, similar to prices elsewhere in Latin America. Mexico's mobile-phone rates are the third-cheapest among Latin America's big economies at current exchange rates.
