Electronic Publishing in the age of Internet -From Electronic Book to Electronic Journal-

The development process of electronic publishing may be divided into four phases: The first phase until the beginning of the 1980s when people started to use computers in order to edit a publication; the second phase until the middle of the 1990s when electronic publishing was frequently performed by using CD-ROM; the third phase from the latter half of the 1990s until the year 2000 when electronic publishing by use of the Internet began and thus induced a period of transition moving away from the use of CD-ROM; and the fourth phase now in the 21st century anticipating that the electronic publishing freed of the printed form may develop.
