Helmut Krawinkler, 1940-2012

Helmut Krawinkler, the John A. Blume Professor Emeritus of Engineering at Stanford University and a leading expert in structural design and earthquake engineering, died on 16 April 2012, just a few days after his 72nd birthday. Helmut had been diagnosed with a brain tumor less than three months earlier, and under the loving care of his wife Michele, he remained optimistic and in good spirits throughout his cancer treatment.
