Growing concern for the envi-ronmen matters is having a tangible effect on the building industry, a sector that can play a key role in reducing local CO_2 emissions. Proof of this has come in the form of regulations introduced in Italy in January 2009, whereby planning permission is subject to energy certification, according to procedures laid down by each regional administration.
