The Sicilian writer Leonardo Sciascia seems to have chosen the motto "He said - and he contradicted himself" as his epitaph. Contradicting others and contradicting oneself as a way of acting and understanding. The theatre project we are working on in Turin is indeed based on a number of contradictions, and the first of these is structural in nature. We asked visual artists, and not people from the world of theatre, to work in theatres. These are artists who have developed an idea of theatricality beyond the tradition of theatre, indeed often actually against theatre, as an institution and "place".
