Suedquai Postcards, a bold initiative by Matteo Winkler and Katharina Widner, is not just an art project but first and foremost a lifestyle and family business that experiments with extreme living conditions on the road, and complete creative freedom. The couple, former students of the Academy of Art and Design in Basel came up with the idea eight years ago when they wanted to create a vehicle to live and travel in and maybe even work from. Matteo, a skilled joiner, chose wood as the most suitable material, and the first vehicle, entirely self-built and not much more than a wooden box mounted on a truck base, was ready for the couple to move into in 2010.
