"[…] This succession of doves in flight, the path of their orbits, the curves, glided through me as through a large interior space. You cannot imagine how, in this papiers decoupes period, the sensation of flight bursting forth inside helped me adjust my hand when I was guiding the path of the scissors. It is rather difficult to explain. [This new papiers decoupes technique] brings me literally to a very high passion for painting. Because, by renewing myself completely, I believe I have found one of the principal points of aspiration and plastic fixation of our time. In creating these coloured papiers decoupes, I feel I am proceeding happily towards what is heralded. Never, I believe, have I reached such a balance as in the making of these papiers decoupes. But I know that only much later will it be realised how much what I am doing today was attuned to the future".
