Commercially available materials are steadily increasing in number and variety. This has a decisive influence on all design ambits: architecture, interiors, displays and products. While the multitude of possibilities represents an undisputed advantage, selection and choice require that we be constantly up to date. How to remain informed? By broadening or narrowing the scope of our research? What type of cataloguing is best? How to communicate novel items to one's design group? What is the right direction? These are some of the enquiries we posed to the heads of three materials libraries of particular interest, run by three companies that are diverse in scale, aim and type of design.
