Senate Democrats have put forth a non-binding, $3.5 trillion budget resolution that shows nominal increases to defense spending over the next 10 years, falling well short of the growth sought by most Republicans. The resolution proposes $765.7 billion in total defense spending for fiscal year 2022. A Senate Budget Committee aide said the figure includes discretionary and mandatory spending, meaning the resolution matches the $753 billion in discretionary defense spending requested by the White House for FY-22. That topline, however, is below the $777 billion sought by the Senate Armed Services Committee.
