Leadership, Management, and Professional Development: Selecting and planning for a leadership and management development course

But how do you know what you need for professional development and what to attend? Should you attend a management conference if you're not interested in administration? Both of us attended the AALL Leadership Academy in April 2014, the Harvard Graduate School of Education's Leadership Institute for Academic Librarians in July/August 2014, and AALL's Management Institute in March 2015. Following are reflections on what you can gain from attending each.
