As I write this column, the East Coast is cleaning up from Hurricane Irene, Hurricane Lee is approaching, the summer is waning, new law students are being oriented, and my outside rowing days are coming to a close. By the time you read this column, the leaves will have fallen, snow may be on the ground, and we will have already held the Futures Summit. Topics that were discussed at the summit included mentoring, changes in the profession, and leadership development. Leadership development is a topic that I find fascinating. What makes a good leader? Where do leaders come from? Are they born to it? Can someone learn to become a leader? How does one become a better leader?.
