Introduction: Evidence suggests that despite the increasing inclination of nursing students toengage in work during studying, many of the issues associated with it remain unknown. Thepurpose of this study is to review of work during studying in nursing students.Methods: This study was conducted in 2017 with reviewing available literature and articlesrelated to work during studying in nursing students and searching in databases such as Pubmed,Scopus, Proquest, Elsevier, Google Scholar, SID and IDML. English and Persian articlespublished in 1999 to 2017 were selected.Results: The work experience also influences the socialization of nursing students to enter theprofession and it has benefits such as a relative decline in financial problems, increasing nursingskills, clinical experiences, self-esteem and independence, and reducing stress. Work duringstudying can have negative effects such as loss of concentration, fatigue, burnout, decreasingacademic achievement and stress. Factors such as financial incentives, having welfare andproper social life, individual satisfaction, enhance experience and functional skills and havingnew friends can attract students to work.Conclusion: Work during studying and its positive and negative consequences are importantissues in nursing education and can easily affect academic performance of students and eventheir physical and mental status. Positive effects are acceptable, but negative effects should beevaluated and eliminated as far as possible.
