Additive Manufacturing is frequently depicted as a promising manufacturing technology for various applications. Due to its ability to produce highly integrated parts economically in low quantities, industry and academia are exploring the new range of opportunities. Therewith, however, requirements concerning quality assurance, qualification and life cycle related monitoring are consistently rising. This impedes the adoption in a broader industrial range and favors aversion against AM technologies. To address these issues, this contribution presents a framework for a post-processing, testing and life cycle monitoring oriented development of AM products based on comprehensive requirements analyses, inter-processual correlation and provision of expert knowledge.
