The European Journal of Histochemistry was foundedin 1954 by Maffo Vialli and published till 1979 underthe title of Rivista di Istochimica Normale ePatologica, from 1980 to 1990 as Basic and AppliedHistochemistry and in 1991 as European Journal ofBasic and Applied Histochemistry.It is now publishedunder the auspices of the University of Pavia, Italy.The European Journal of Histochemistry is the officialorgan of the Italian Society of Histochemistryand a member of the journal subcommittee of theInternational Federation of Societies forHistochemistry and Cytochemistry (IFSHC), and hasbeen an influential cytology journal for over 60 years,publishing research articles on functional cytologyand histology in animals and plants.
