We have recently read the article of “"Hands " figural teaching method in hepatic anatomy: a surgeon's teaching experience” which was published in your journal. 3 In the same way, we also found a new teaching method of liver segmentation. During teaching, we proposed the “hand for liver” approach for memo- rizing liver segmentation. We mark the back of the right hand in the clockwise direction, starting with the thumb. The thumb repre- sents segment I, the index and middle fingers represent segment II, the ring and small fingers represent segment III, and the proximal knuckles of the four fingers represent segment IV. The back of the palm represents the right half liver, including segments V, VI, VII and VIII. The five fingers of the right hand are then closed together, and the metacarpophalangeal joints are flexed to mimic the shape of the liver(Fig. 1).
