Compiling acomplete catalogue for theLadybird publishing Series1940-1980: a feasibilitystudy in children’s literatureand curatorship

In 2010, a thesis was submitted to the School of Library and Information Studies in University College Dublin aspart of my MLIS on examining the cherished Ladybird books published from 1940 to 1980. Exploring thepublishing history, it questioned whether it was feasible for the series during this period to be cataloguedaccording to rare book standards by examining the metadata used for this collections held in selected universitylibraries in the UK and Ireland. For a feasibility study, it was my objective to compile a descriptive catalogue ofLadybird Books from 1940-1980 in an attempt to aggregate bibliographic information regarding the early worksof Ladybird Ltd that have previously been scattered across a variety of sources into one single resource.
