Study on a Web-based Project Integrated Management Information System in A/E/C Industry

摘要

The author tries to develop and implement aWeb-based Project Integrated Management InformationSystem (PIMIS) in Architecture/engineering/construction(A/E/C) industry. The targets, the functional planning, theframework and the technical index of the PIMIS werepresented firstly. Then, experimental implement of thisdeveloped system were put forward in 3 A/E/C project.Finally, an empirical interview survey targeting the projectmanagers of the studied 3 cases was carried to estimate itsimplement performance. Results show that the acceptanceand implement of the PIMIS can significantly improve theperformance of the project cost control, and successfulimplementation of the PIMIS, in terms of leading to betteroutcomes for the A/E/C project, Coordination improvementamong participators and Reduction of contract disputes, etc,is not simple a matter of introducing the system into anproject organization. Instead, it must be associated withoverall project management approaches such as a suitableorganization mode, an appropriate system, the standardworkflows, adequate personal trainings and even acoordinated project management philosophy.
