摘要

Diesel engines are considered as one of the biggestcontributors to environmental pollution and these are responsible forvarious health problems. Emission regulations are becoming moreand more stringent for new vehicles but the issue of pollution fromthe older vehicles still needs to be addressed. In order to achieve thenewer emission regulations by reducing the particulate matter,carbon monoxide(CO), hydrocarbon(HC) and nitrogen oxides (NOx)emissions, the retrofitting of after-treatment devices in old vehicleshas become necessary. This review article discusses about aftertreatment technologies with special focus on diesel oxidation catalyst(DOC) for the control of emissions in diesel engines.
