In this article, we consider adding runs-rules to enhance the performance of thenonparametric Phase II Shewhart-type chart based on the Wilcoxon?typerank?sum statistic proposed by Balakrishnan et al. (2009). The average runlength performance and several design aspects of the proposed chart are studiedthrough extensive simulations. A comparison between the proposed scheme andother competitive charts already introduced in the literature reveals therobustness of the new monitoring scheme.
