摘要

The inhibitory effect of Pistacia lentiscusL. Leave s essential oil was estimated on the corrosion of m ild steel in 1M HCl using weight loss, Electrochemical Impedance Sp ectroscopy (EIS) and Tafel polarization curves. Inh ibition was found to increase with increasing concentration of P. lentiscusessential oilto attain 90.8 % at 2.56 g /L of (PLL) at 303 K. The effect of temperature on the corrosion b ehavior of mild steel in 1M HCl with addition of (P LL) was also studied and the process followed the kinetic/thermo dynamic model of El-Awady et al. in the temperature range from 303 to 333 K. The calculated a?? G ° ads value showed that the corrosion inhibition of the carbon steel in 1 M HCl is mainlycontrolled by a physisorption process. The re sults obtained showed that oil of P. lentiscuscould serve as an effective inhibitor of the corrosion of mild steel in Hydrochloric acid medium.
