A Minute mutant with suppressor effect on the eye‐colour gene zeste in Drosophila melanogaster

A dominant autosomal suppressor of the eye-colour gene zeste in D. melanogaster has been isolated after EMS treatment. The mutant, which also has Minute characteristics. shows temperature-dependent fertility in females. Occurrence of revertants of the suppressor suggests that an insertion of “foreign” DNA causing polarization may be responsible for the effects of the mutant.
