This article analyzes the trips of Rockefeller Foundation employees in Germany in the 1930s. The officers, working either at the foundation's headquarters in New York, or at the Paris office of the foundation, travel to Germany to meet researchers, but also observe the political situation in detail. First, they are witnesses of the crisis of the Weimar Republic, then of Hitler's rise to power. While the employees of the Paris office are most often in favor of maintaining the aid granted to German researchers, the New York officers and trustees see this position with a critical eye. In December 1933, the Rockefeller Foundation decides to stop all institutional support in Nazi Germany.
