>The crystal structure of (R)-2-(4-methylimidazolin-2-yl)phenol was determined by X-ray crystallography. Single crystals were obtained by slow evaporation of a methanol solution. The compound crystallized in the monoclinic space group P21 and Z = 2 with cell parameters a = 6.345(2)?, b = 9.631(4)?, c = 7.805(3)?, V = 440.8(3)?3. The R1 [I 2σ(I)] and wR2 (all data) values are 0.0346 and 0.0787, respectively, for all 1436 independent reflections. In the crystal, the compound exists as twitter-ions to form hydrogen-bonds with neighboring molecules. This intermolecular hydrogen-bonding interaction resulted in the construction of a 1D chain structure.
