Fortalezas y debilidades de la animación turística en hoteles all inclusive en Playa del Carmen, México

RESUMEN : Se estudió el área de animación turística en cuatro hoteles “ all inclusive” de Playa del Carmen, con la finalidad de identificar las fortalezas y debilidades de la misma. Se realizó una investigación de carácter cualitativo exploratorio, que consistió en tres etapas. En primer lugar, se recopiló información teórica sobre el tema, en seguida se aplicaron entrevistas a expertos considerando un muestreo de selección intencionada, y finalmente se elaboró un diagnóstico utilizando la matriz FODA. Se descubrió que existen como fortalezas tres características en estas actividades: personalización, especialización e innovación. Asimismo, se notó que no se obliga al cliente a realizar las actividades recreativas, y la utilización de sonido que perturbe su estancia. Sin embargo, se detectaron como debilidades el desarrollo de actividades recreativas básicas; el personal contratado no cumple con el perfil del puesto; tienen horarios quebrados y extendidos. Además, perciben un salario bajo y existe alta rotación de personal en el departamento. Por lo anteriormente expuesto, se concluyó que aunque se encuentran debilidades en el sector, se identifican intentos por mejorar la competitividad de esta área en los hoteles. Tourist entertainment area in four hotels "all inclusive" of Playa del Carmen was studied, in order to identify the strengths and weaknesses. Exploratory research of qualitative nature, which consisted of three stages, was performed. First, theoretical information was collected from the topic, then expert interviews were applied considering sampling purposeful selection, and finally a diagnosis was made using the SWOT matrix. Was found to exist as strengths, three features in the trend of these activities: personalization, specialization and innovation also was noted that the client is not forced to do recreational activities and the use of sound to disturb their stay. However, as basic weaknesses found that recreational activities are developed, the staff does not have the require job profile, have mixed schedules and extended hours. In addition, perceived low pay and high turnover exists in the department. By the above, it was concluded that although they are weaknesses in the sector, attempts are identified to improve the competitiveness of the hotel′s areas.
