Palmiche (Roystonea regia H B K Cook) meal for fattening pigs; ileal and rectal digestibility

Twoexperimentswereconductedforstudyingtheeffectofthemeasuringsite,terminalileumorrectum,onnutrientdigestibilityofdietscontainingornot20%riperoyalpalmnutmeal,fruitoftheroyalpalm(RoystonearegiaH.B.K.Cook).Four40kgileorectostomizedpigswereusedfollosingachangeoverdesignforevaluatingilealdigestibilityofnutrientsindietsbasedonwheatandsoybeanmeal,containingeither0or20%riperoyalpalmnutmeal.nbsp;Anothereight40kgintactpigswereemployedinexperiment2tostudyrectaldigestibilityofthesamedietsfromexperiment1.Ilealandrectaldigestibilityoforganicmatterwereslightlylower(P0.10)inthedietcontainingroyalpalmnuts(77.0vs83.0%).Thedatafornbsp;ilealandrectalNdigestibilityshowedsimilartrends(77.8vs82.5%).nbsp;Methodstoincreasenutrientdigestibilityofroyalpalmnutinpigsshouldbestudied.
