Abstract：Objective To investigate the application of therapeutic hemapheresis for patients with polycythemia vera and to summarize the related nursing measures. Methods The therapeutic hemapheresis by using Fresenius COM.TEC hemocyte depletion filters was carried out in 22 patients with with polycythemia vera. The hematological parameter and adverse reactions were observed and analyzed. Results The level of red blood cell, haemoglobin and hematocrit were decreased after treatment(P0.05). The nonspecific symptoms, such as headache, dizziness, and limbs numbness were released in all patients. There were 2 patients with lips and palm numbness, 1 case of insufficient arterial flow as the emotional stress during the treatment. No patient was observed with hypovolemia or anaphylactic reaction. Conclusion It is safe and effective to apply therapeutic hemapheresis by using COM.TEC hemocyte depletion filters for patients with polycythemia vera.
