:Objective To investigate the clinical effect of cupping therapy combined with hot compress of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)for shoulder pain after laparoscopic cholecystectomy(LC). Methods 〓Totally 200 patients undergoing LC were randomly divided into four groups, control group(n=50), cupping group(n=49, 1 patient with open surgery was excluded), hot compress group(n=49, 1 patient quitted the study)and combined therapy group(n=50). All patients received routine care after LC, and those in, cupping group, hot compress group and combined therapy group were given cupping therapy, TCM hot compress and combined therapy, respectively. The Visual analogue scale(VAS)of pain at 1, 4, 8, 12, 36 and 72 hours after interventions were measured. Results 〓There was a significant difference among four groups at each time point after intervention(P0.01), and the VAS score was decreased more significant in the combined therapy group than other three groups. The cupping therapy and hot compress were independent factors of decreased VAS score at 1, 4, 36 and 72 hours after intervention, showing a significant interaction in relieving postoperative shoulder pain(P0.05). Conclusion 〓The cupping therapy combined with hot compress of traditional Chinese medicine is potentially effective to relieve the shoulder pain after LC.
