:Objective To investigate the needlestick and sharp injuries among nursing students at different stages of internship, in order to improve the occupational safety for nursing students during internship. Methods 〓A self-made questionnaire was used to collect the information of needlestick and sharp injuries among nursing students at different stages of internship. Results 〓The rate of nursing students who had experienced needlestick and sharp injuries was 92.00%(92/100)at early-stage of internship, and dropped to 88.00%(88/100)at late-stage. In terms of handling needlestick and sharp injuries, the rate of nursing students who had treated injuries properly, reported to clinical teacher and reviewed the medical records were higher at late-stage than those at early-stage of internship(P0.05). The knowledge and skills of nursing students, hospital environmental adaptation and attitude towards occupational hazards were three influencing factors of occurrence of needlestick and sharp injuries(P0.05). Conclusion 〓Nursing students are vulnerable to needlestick and sharp injuries. It is required to enhance the knowledge and awareness of occupational hazards among nursing students, in order to reduce the incidence of needlestick and sharp injuries during internship.
