：Objective To investigate the effect of external application of Sihuang ointment on pain caused by injection of mouse nerve growth factor. Methods 〓Totally 60 patients with intramuscular injection of mouse nerve growth factor(NGF)for bone healing after fracture were randomly divided into the control group and the observation group, with 30 cases in each group. Patients of both two groups received care on pain caused by injection, and those in the observation group were given external application of Sihuang ointment at the injection site. The pain degree was evaluated by Visual Analogue Scale(VAS). Results 〓One week after intervention, the VAS score in the observation group was(2.40±0.33), which was lower than(3.20±0.40)in the control group, with a significant difference(P0.05). Conclusion 〓The external application of Sihuang ointment is effective to relieve the pain caused by injection of NGF.
