Abstract:Objective To evaluate the modified urine-receiving device in elderly male patients with uracratia. Methods 〓Totally 120 elderly male patients with uracratia were assigned to the modified group(n=60)and the control group(n=60)according to the admission sequence. The fresh-keeping bag was used as urine collector in the control group, while the modified urine-receiving device(negative pressure drainage connected with plastic bottle)was used in the modified group. The occurrence of urine leakage, eczema dermatitis, urinary tract infection, as well as frequency of replacing urine collector, was recorded. The satisfaction degree of patients was evaluated. Results 〓The incidence of urine leakage, eczema dermatitis, urinary tract infection was lower in the observation group than that of controls. The frequency of replacing urine collector was less in the modified group than that of controls(P0.05). Patients in the modified group were more satisfied with urine-receiving collector than those in the control group(P0.05). Conclusion 〓The modified urine-receiving device, as a friendly-used and low-cost tool, may reduce the uracratia-related complications in elderly male patients with uracratia.
