Abstract:Objective To explore effect of soft silicone foam absorption dressings (Mepilex) in prevention of scalp pressure ulcer of patients with severe craniocerebral injury. Methods A total of 40 severe head injury patients in our hospital were selected and were randomly divided into control group and observation group, with 20 cases in each group, patients in the observation group applied Mepilex foam dressing on scalp pressure sites, patients in the control group applied ordinary sterile gauze pads on pressure parts. Scalp pressure parts and occurrence of pressure ulcer were compared before discharge from ICU. Results The incidence of pressure sores in the scalp of the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P0.05), and comfort degree was significantly higher than that in the control group (P0.01). From the perspective of economic costs, nursing cost in the observation group was much lower than that in the control group. Conclusion Mepilex foams for severe craniocerebral injury patients can effectively prevent pressure sores and improve comfort degree of patients, reduce the economic burden and the nursing cost, so it is of great value in clinical application.
