Abstract A series of trials was conducted to determine the optimum storage temperature for sperm diluted in Caprogen. Survival of sperm at 37°C in vitro was significantly higher after storage at 16-20°C than after storage at 5°C (P < 0.001) and was significantly higher after storage at 15.6–21.1°C than at 26.7 or 32.2°C (P < 0.001). Fertility of semen stored at ambient temperature (10–23°C) was higher than when stored at 5°C (P=0.06).
