The Renaissance is the commonly accepted point of genesisfor architectural theory and institutionalisedprofessionalism in the field of building art. Thisacceptance, however, neither denies the existence ofarchitecture per se, nor does it explain i t solely withinthe context of binding rules drawn from the theory. Yet,the Renaissance concept of architecture and that ofarchitect contain almost a l l of the institutionalisedtaxidermy from which the profession has suffered for solong.
