La producción agropecuaria en el nordeste subtropical argentino. Condicionantes y dinámica geográfica en la segunda mitad del siglo XX

The Argentine Subtropical Northeast, formed by the provinces of Chaco, Corrientes, Misiones and Formosa is a geographic region with special carecteristics in the country's agrarian context. Its singularity consists in that is the provider, in an almost exclusive way, of some industrial crops and cattle products. The peculiarity of the region's production has allowed its incorporation to the national agrarian scenery with special products that resulted of great importance to consolidate the provincial economies. At the same time, the intrinsical vulnerability and dependency of this way of producing has led to cyclical crises related to this exclusiveness. Cattle too, must evolve an adapt to conjugate both, the troublesome natural enviroment and the requirements of the Argentine internal market. This paper analizes the distinctive characteristics and the dinamics to regional agrarian sector, during the xx century's second half, to bring out of particular case of the Chaco province as a one the most interesting examples of the problems shared by all the region.
