Preserving the Integrity of Medical Image with Modified Histogram Based Reversible Data Hiding

With the advancements in the field of biomedical instrumentation, many medical instruments are now available with the medical doctors so that they can give proper treatment to the patients by viewing the medical images such as x-rays, CT images, MRI images etc. Also huge collections of digital medical images of the patients are kept in the database of hospitals. At this context there is a need to protect the privacy of the patients information by storing the secret data by some means. Reversible data hiding is a useful concept to embed the secret data into the medical image and to extract the same information from that image whenever required without any distortion. In this paper, we present an effective modified histogram based reversible data hiding scheme for medical images. Simulation results show that our proposed method provides better image quality without noticeable distortion.
