摘要

Present investigation, describe the synthesis of 5-ethyl 4-(4-methoxyphenyl)-6-methyl-2-thioxo- 1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidine-5-carboxylate (INH) and its corrosion inhibition property on aluminiumin 1M HCl using weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization and surface study methods. Tafelpolarization measurements revealed that investigated inhibitor acts as mixed-type. The inhibitorexhibited the best inhibition efficiency of 83.33% at 500 ppm concentration. Adsorption of theinhibitor on aluminium surface in 1M HCl follows the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Scanningelectron microscopy (SEM) and dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) examinations was performed oninhibited and uninhibited aluminium samples to show the presence of inhibitor on aluminium surface.Some kinetic and thermodynamic parameters were also calculated to explain the nature andmechanism of adsorption.
