The food safety issues associated with the presence of pesticide residues in agriculture products haveraised the need of pesticide residues detection instrument to detect pesticide residues rapidly,sensitively and online in different commodities. The measurements of specific biological-recognitionthat coupled with a signal transducer were the principle to realize the detection. Instruments based onbiosensors for pesticide residues detection have shown advantage and broad application prospects inthe instrument market. The present overview is an effort to review the various transduction systemsand biosensor devices so far in the development of pesticide residues rapid detection instrument basedon biosensors, such as electrochemical biosensors, optical biosensors and mass-based biosensors.Furthermore, miniaturization, stability, sensitivity, repeatability and signal intensity of the biosensorsand applications of these biosensors were evaluated in the development of biosensor instruments.Recent advances about pesticide residues detection with different types of biosensors have beenanalyzed and summed, which was shown that with the development of biosensors for detectionmonitoring, corresponding biosensor instruments are also becoming one essential tool in society withlow cost and to make the pesticide residues detection foolproof.
