摘要

The present study was carried out to determine thechanges in some reserve molecules of gladiolus corms duringdormancy, sprouting and initial plant development. Fourvarieties named, Red Ginger, Sunset Jubilee, Pacifica andLittle Prince were taken as experimental materials to examinethe changes of Reducing sugar, Non reducing sugar andVitamin C (Ascorbic acid) activities in corms. The resultsindicate that total reducing sugar (2.97, 3.42, 3.09 mg g-1 f.w)and non reducing sugar (1.63, 1.67, 1.17 mg g-1 f.w) levelsshowed increasing trend up to sprouting stage thereafter trendwas decreased in developing corms. Ascorbic acid (2.17, 1.17,3.35 mg/g) levels decreased as the sprouting progressed andcontent was high at the opposite trend at initial plantdevelopment stage. Results suggest that significant changestook place in the Reducing sugar, Non reducing sugar andVitamin C.
