Krem Liat Prah: the story behind the exploration of the longest cave of Indian sub-continent/ The Unearthed Hollow: a documentary to popularize the sports of Caving in India

Krem (=cave) Liat Prah was explored as a part of anongoing project, “Caving in the Abode of theClouds Project”. The name is based on a Sanskritword “Meghalaya” which is indeed also the nameof an Indian State of great interest to theInternational Caving fraternity. Due to its uniquegeographical location, Meghalaya is blessed withworld’s highest record rainfall. This feature, addedto a warm climate and extensive areas oflimestone, has created various prominent caves.Itwas the year 1992 when a small team of fourEuropean Cavers visited to Meghalaya in search ofcaves and realized the huge caving potentialitywithin the state. Consequently, in 1994, they camein contact with Meghalaya based the members ofMeghalaya Adventurers Association Mr. Brian D.Kharpran Daly and Donbok Syiemlieh and fromthen onwards the systematic exploration of cavesacross Meghalaya started as an enduringpartnership between Indian, European, MiddleEastand American Cave Explorers.
