The study of life cycle of Phloeotribus scarabaeoides is carried out in an olive grove inthe region of Tarihant in northern Algeria .The variety of olive tree, which is takenunder study is called "Chemlel". The study is based on the monitoring of nutritionattacks for two years from June 2011 until May 2013. The adults of the olive beetlefeed and hibernate on healthy and vigorous Olea europaeawood, generates perforations on the branches and causing their breakage.galleries also generate the same damage.The life cycle includes periods of activity andrest period. The Periods of activity are characterized by four generations per year. Therest period is the hibernation during the winter. For its nutrition, olive beetle attackstender shoots rich in sap of small diameter with a preference for those of 2 to 4 mm .The insect establishes most of the penetration holes at heights ranging from 5 to 15 cmof the apical tip of the branch. For the distribution of the olive beetle’s attacks in thetree it is dependent on the prevailing wind direction in the study areas.
